Dear Friends,

Greetings! We trust your Easter celebrations went well.

Elliott family reunion

Family Reunion. This year could not have started better for us in that we had the joy of having our three adult children, their respective spouses (except for David), and five grandchildren with us for the first two weeks of January. Much fun was had by all. Our little two-bedroom apartment at times was unrecognizable when 12, (sometimes more) people gathered to eat together and/or make plans for the day. It has been more than 20 years since our three, Deborah, Stephen and David, have all been in Singapore together.  Singaporean friends spoilt them all, making their time here most memorable.

WOI Meetings. It has been standard practice for some time now that the period from late January through to mid-February is ideal for different leaders within World Outreach International (WOI), to get together in Singapore to pray, talk, and strategize for the year ahead.  Three weeks of inspired, high powered, brain storming and/or brain draining meetings was the limit for most. As a result some exciting new ministry initiatives are to be launched during the second half of the year.

Time Out. One half of our annual holidays is usually tagged with a visit to NZ for a WOI and a WOI-NZ Board meeting in the February/March period. We have a favourite holiday destination up in Northland by a rolling surf beach where John’s parents built a simple, yet sturdy holiday home just after WW2. The seaside ‘bach’ (house) as it is known, has needed some long overdue repairs and painting. While we had some great walks on the huge white sandy beach and enjoyed the magnificent beauty of the area, most free time was spent painting sections of the exterior (John), and fixing things inside (Mary), so there was little time for fishing. John let the fish know he would be back!!

Moving Office. Just before Easter the WOI team in Singapore were packing up for a shift to our new office on the outskirts of the CBD. It was an emotional time for some long-serving team members who have enjoyed the very comfortable (rental) facilities these past 16 years.  Unfortunately there have been a number of delays in getting the keys, various permits and the renovation contractors started, so we won’t move into the new office until late April. In the meantime most team members will work from their respective homes. We continue to rejoice and praise the Lord for His provision of this new debt-free office.

Ministry Highlights. The Holy Spirit continues to do mind-blowing and heart-warming things through different WOI teams. Lorraine Dierck, WOI Thailand field leader, was in Singapore recently and shared testimonies of some wonderful breakthroughs. Her colleague, WOI Thai mission partners John and Nok and their team, tell of literal signs and wonders happening, resulting in whole families having come to Christ. Also some 18 monks and at least seven prisoners have been water baptized.  There is also testimony of a new believer who experienced a bumper crop of corn when he obediently obeyed the voice of the Lord to plant seed when local growing conditions were at their worst. John and Nok’s teams have recorded more than 12,000 baptisms in the past two years! All praise to the Lord.

Coming Up. We will be ‘on the road’ for most of May and the first part of June – in Europe and South Africa, for various WOI assignments.  In South Africa we will be putting plans in place for the launching of new deployment centres in key ‘least reached people’ group regions. In July the first of four WOI Regional Vision Teams for the year will take place, this one in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.  Exciting times ahead.

In Closing. We continue to thank the Lord for His faithful provision these many years. We know we are where He wants us to be, doing what He has called us to. Your partnership greatly encourages and blesses our hearts. Thank you.
